Meet Sarah Hanison

I warmly welcome you to Sarah Hanison Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am an experienced accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor with over 15 years experience in private practice helping and supporting adults either in person or online. My approach is holistic, integrative and transpersonal, and trauma-informed.

I’m a fully accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, (UKCP), a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and a professional member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO).

I’m also a certified Clinical Supervisor supervising both student and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

Additionally, I am a certified and accredited Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) practitioner registered with EFT International, and Matrix Reimprinting and Matrix Birth Reimprinting practitioner.

Location

I primarily see clients from a dedicated space at my home in Croxley Green and also at the Chiropractic & Wellness Centre in Rickmansworth. Both locations are a short walk from the tube and offer convenient, free parking.

My location is also convenient for people living and working in Watford, Chorleywood, Sarratt, Amersham and St Albans, and surrounding areas in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Whether we work in person or online, or a hybrid of both, I look forward to supporting you.

Working With You

I practice in an engaging, compassionate and client-centred way integrating a variety of different approaches to suit your needs. My role is to understand life in your shoes as we work together to make sense of your experiences, to help you cultivate more acceptance, connection and trust in yourself, and to unearth those inner resources and qualities that will allow you to live more fully and authentically.

Sometimes there is purpose in sadness and suffering, that life’s challenges offer unique opportunities for growth; that we may discover a deeper sense of ourselves, find meaning, strength and clarity, and reconnect with our balance and creative voice.

First and foremost, our time together is centred on building a relationship where you feel safe and more at ease. This is about your story, about weaving together and transforming the narrative of your life. So bearing this is in mind, and deeply respecting your individuality, we can work in a variety of creative ways. As well as the traditional ‘talking cure’, our sessions might also include EFT and related energy therapies, IFS (Internal Family Systems), Gestalt therapy, multi-modal CBT, mindfulness and meditation, body and breath work, creative visualisation, symbolic drawing and art, sand tray therapy, and exploration of dreams and archetypal material.

Safety and Confidentiality in Psychotherapy

I am absolutely committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. I have professional supervision for my work and any material discussed is presented anonymously and is strictly confidential.

I follow the framework of good practice and ethics for all the professional bodies I am registered with (UKCP, BACP, ACTO, EFT International), and am more than happy to provide proof of professional training and insurance.
