I warmly welcome you to my site. I am an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I abide by their ethical foundation of good practice.
As an integrative therapist, I draw upon a number of theoretical models: no two problems are ever the same and so I work with a number of approaches depending upon what’s happening for you, what the problems are. I also work within a person-centred framework that places you in the driving seat of your therapy as it is you who knows your story, your wounds, your thoughts and feelings. My role is to understand what life is like in your shoes as we work together to understand what is triggering your experiences and uncover the insight needed to help you move forwards. I work in a warm, compassionate and informal way. As well as listening to you, our work together, with your consent, might also include breath and body work, meditation, visualisation, artwork and working with your dreams.
I am absolutely committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am also in supervision for my work, and again any material that is discussed between me and my supervisor is strictly confidential too.
I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2009. I have worked for a number of volunteer organisations including Woman’s Trust, Caravan Drop In Counselling Service, FreshStart Psychotherapy working with clients with a wide variety of presenting issues, and now work in private practice. As a mother myself I have a particular interest in pregnancy and motherhood – what happens to a woman’s identity during this time – and in pre/post natal illness and birth trauma issues. My experience and interest also covers stress and anxiety, general trauma and dissociation, depression and low self-esteem, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), abuse and domestic violence, adapting to life transitions such as marriage (or separation), parenthood, redundancy and bereavement, and finding purpose and meaning in life.
