Client FAQs

Whether you need to know about cost or more about what to expect at a first session, hopefully I’ve got it covered below. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Where are you based?

I am based at two locations, but primarily work from Croxley Green:

  • Malvern Way, Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, WD3 3QG
  • The Chiropractic and Wellness Centre: 148 High Street, Rickmansworth, WD3 1BA

Do you offer a preliminary chat?

Yes, I offer a free of charge 15–20-minute preliminary chat so you can make sure I’m going to be the right fit for you and to ask any questions you may have.

If you are then happy to work with me, I will send you all the relevant admin details including a pre-therapy questionnaire, therapy agreement and GDPR agreement prior to our first session.

The pre-therapy questionnaire allows me to get to know a little more about you before our first session and is treated in the strictest confidence. The therapy agreement is a practical guideline for the framework of therapy while the GDPR agreement details how I use and store your personal information.

You may decide I am not the right therapist for you, and that is absolutely fine; I will respect any decision you make. Likewise, if I feel that I am not the right therapist for you then I will make this clear and suggest other relevant therapists and avenues of help.

How long does therapy take?

Counselling and psychotherapy sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly. Therapy can take place for an agreed period or on an open-ended basis. I usually encourage regular reviews so we can assess how therapy is helping you, and on this basis whether to continue or end.

I incorporate (if required) EFT, Matrix Reimprinting and Matrix Birth Reimprinting into psychotherapy sessions but also offer them as standalone therapies too.

What happens at a first session?

During our first session we will address your goals and expectations for therapy and how we are going to work together to achieve them. I often suggest beginning by exploring what is happening for you right now, and everything else, your life story, the big issues and themes, tend to evolve from this. I may also introduce creative techniques like EFT.

If this is your very first time in therapy and feel nervous, please be assured that the whole process will evolve naturally and will always go at your pace.

It can also be helpful to track your progress in therapy by keeping a journal to log your feelings, insights, dreams etc.

What are your fees?

I charge £60 for in-person and online (video, voice, email) therapy sessions. I also offer lower cost spaces which are negotiable and dependent upon your circumstances.

If you are looking for supervision, I charge £60 for a 50 minute session, £65 for 60 minutes, and £90 for 90 minutes.

Are you registered with insurance providers?

I am registered with the following health insurance providers; BUPA, AXA PPP, Vitality and Aviva.

What happens if I cancel?

If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, I will try to offer you an alternative that week. If I’m unable to do this, the cancellation will be payable. Conversely, in the rare event I cancel, you will not be charged.

Can I contact you between sessions?

I don’t offer therapeutic support between sessions, but you are still welcome to email me for practical matters such as scheduling, or text if you are late for a session. If you are in an emergency, please dial 999 or the Samaritans on 116 123, or go to A&E.

Can I end therapy at any time?

Yes, of course you can. The decision to end therapy is always open to you. However, what I do suggest in the case of longer-term therapy is that when an ending has been agreed we spend time working towards this. Our relationship will potentially be a significant one and an important aspect of our work together is to address the ending of the relationship.

What about confidentiality and privacy?

Therapy is a fully confidential activity. As part of my professional ethical code of practice I have regular clinical supervision where I discuss my work. Your identity is kept anonymous and confidentiality maintained. I also record session notes, and these are also anonymised and kept securely for five years after you have left therapy in case you decide to return. Any other personal information e.g., address, telephone number, information disclosed on the pre-therapy questionnaire is also strictly confidential and stored securely. If, however, I feel the need to consult anybody else about your case e.g. your GP, I will only do so after discussion with you first, and with your written consent.

The limits to confidentiality include the following: 1. Where you give consent for the confidence to be broken. 2. Where I am compelled by a court of law. 3. Where the information “is of such gravity that confidentiality cannot be maintained” i.e. in cases of fraud, crime, terrorism and where there is a case of “serious physical harm” to others. 4. Where there are risks to children as defined under the Child Protection Act. 5. Where there is a risk of suicide or serious harm to self in which case I may need to discuss this with my supervisor and/or someone else outside and wherever possible, would endeavour to inform you first.

Regarding privacy, my GDPR agreement sets out how any personal data I collect from you, or that you provide to me, will be stored and processed confidentially. You will receive this agreement before our first session.

I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (lCO) as a controller of sensitive data and work to their standards for storing and personal information.
